WAR IN THE MARIANAS

The Okinawa peace memorial is dedicated to all the Okinawans that lost their lives during the battle of Saipan that occurred on June 15, 1944.

This plaque is considered a National Historic Landmark and administered by the US National Park Service.

The Last Command Post Park honors the final days of the brutal battle of the Pacific War.

Japanese people did not want to give themselves up during World War II, so when Japan lost the battle, they walked up to the Banzai Cliff and jumped into the sea to end their lives.

Banzai Memorial expresses our deepest gratitude and reverence for the spirits of those loyal and brave soldiers who gave their lives defending their homeland, as well as our hope for eternal world peace.
